Travel to the Humboldt Penguin National Reserve in Chile

One of the most impressive tourist destinations in Region IV and in the entire country.

The Humboldt Penguin National Reserve is made up of three islands: Chañaral, Choros, and Damas. Here it is possible to see sea lions and elephant seals, chungungos, penguins, various birds, and if you are lucky, bottlenose dolphins.

  • Damas Island. One of the three islands that are part of the Humboldt Penguin National Reserve, but the only one that can be landed. You have to pay extra for the entrance to the park. It is allowed to stay on the island for a maximum of 1 hour and you cannot swim here. There is a path that can be walked for 2 km.

  • Indigenous settlements. One of the things that can be done in this place is to visit some indigenous settlements, to know more about the ethnic groups that inhabited this area in the past.
  • Practicing skuba diving on Damas Island. This place is perfect for skuba diving. From basic modalities, where you can see large numbers of fish and algae easily to more complex ones, such as visiting a shipwrecked boat or diving among rocks, obviously more difficult.
